You can create simple walls with a user defined height
from any face or surface
or vertical faces from edges.
WITH NO EXTERNAL SELECTION:
Starting the tool with no selection you can select faces via left-mouse-move. Mouse-up will open a dialogue and lets you decide, if the top of the wall is flat or if it follows the source terrain.
Confirming a selection creates a wall.
With horizontal source terrain the wall is automatically horizontal.
Hold down CTRL for multiple selection.
WITH EXISTING EXTERNAL SELECTION:
When elements are selected, walls will be created with options as described above. To avoid uncontrolled results (unexpected selections), you have to use SHIFT+Leftclick to create walls from the selection.
After this selection was 'used', left-click works again.
In the context menu you can decide for the active tool-session, if you want to create 'building-like-walls' with top face always horizontal,
or 'terrain-copies', always following the terrain.
In both cases you save time, since no corresponding dialogue is displayed.
There are two types of walls :
- massive walls : leftclick
- translucent walls : alt+leftclick
This works for edges and faces, so also simple railings can be created quickly.
More details:
If the basis face(s) is(are) horizontal, walls are created directly (no confirmation dialogue).
Otherwise the user can decide, if the top-faces of the wall follow the terrain (basis) or become horizontal.
When 'horizontal' is selected, the wall height respects the highest vertex of the basis-selection to avoid conflicts with the terrain and adds the desired height at this point.
You can set 'permanent horizontal for the active session' , define height in the vcb
and
create building blocks for further
transformation to AREAL3D buildings.
or
'permanent sloped for the active session' , define height in the vcb
and
create building blocks for further
transformation to AREAL3D terrain.
Massive walls have two materials:
- vertical (sides)
- top (horizontal or terrain)
Using the 'translucent'- option paints all faces of the new wall with one translucent material.
You can create buildings from walls with 2 clicks via buildingtool (1 : extract top face / 2: create building).
