The Terrain-Tool starts as Vertex-Modifier.
Unlike the native move tool
here the vertices are moved only in vertical direction, so the mesh remains unchanged in the top-view.
You can change the direction of the vertical movement by double-clicking anywhere in the viewport.
The context menu provides some more useful functions:
GENERAL FUNCTIONSChange direction = the same as double click
Set absolute height : enter absolute height for either last vertex or last face under cursor
Unsmooth : make borders of the face under cursor visible
Selector : call the SELECTOR from here
Select connected surface of a selected face
Subdivide selected face
Paint selection : select an AREAL3D-material for the face under cursor
MODIFY TERRAINFlatten

Terrace
Especially
Terrace up/down/average/fix is a very quick way to model the terrain face by face to a defined height.
Leftclick and hold to retrieve the height of the source face and move across other faces.
REPAIR MESHOptions for sub-deviding of a selected face (4+ gon) and creating a triangle mesh.
CURBSTONECreate a curbstone along a selection of edges. Unlike a simple 'tube along line' the curbstone side faces are always vertical, which sometimes is nicer in detail.
Just mouse-over a face and select width. A single face or its corresponding surface will be selected.

FOLIAGEAdapt foliage: no selection needed, all AREAL3D elements will be placed on the terrain (if generally switched on in the preferencies.
SET MESH-HEIGHTOptions to define the heights of a selected face (displayed as Text per vertex)
FLATTEN SELECTION OF FACESOptions for flattening selected faces
MESH-HEIGHTOptions to display and delete the heights of a selected face (displayed as Text per vertex)
LOCK/UNLOCK - sectionSelected AREAL3D-elements can be locked / unlocked. AREAL3D-Materials are mostly displayed a bit darker, when locked (no changes in the greyscale-mode).
VIEW-OPTIONS - sectionSave actual viewport as sketchup view directly from the tool, with some naming options.
(this universal module is implemented in most context menues of AREAL3D)
EXIT - optionsExit the tool with some options
