Insert a map as image (sketchup import) and scale
« on: June 25, 2016, 03:38:26 PM »
In many situations you will insert a map as an image into your model.

Very often then you have to scale it.

With the Sketchup scale tool this is not a problem with the first imported image.

But, if you have to import further images and overlay them in the correct scale and position above the first image,
the native scale tool shows its limitations, since it only can scale around a corner or it's center point.

Here the AREAL3D scale tool helps.

You can

- select an image to be scaled
- find any common point and move the image to the correct position of this point
- define the center point for the scale and rotation options at this point

- define the scale factor in the VCB
- scale the selected object via key up&down

- define the rotation factor in the context menu
- rotate the selected object via key left&right

Scaling and rotation now happens around this point, regardless of the geometry of the images or its distance to any corner. No mouse needed at this point......

For better orientation a vertical c-line is inserted at the user-defined centerpoint's position.

NOTE:

Unlike the native scale tool you can zoom in at any position and still scale and rotate, even if no corners of the images are visible!
