FUNCTION: randomize heights (mesh vertices)
« on: February 27, 2016, 04:43:56 PM »
A nice simple way to 'destroy' or modify a flat mesh and create an unregular surface.

Basis: Sketchup or AREAL-selections

This function works together with the modifiers controlled by the arrow keys.

- the END KEY = randomize
changes the height of selected vertices with a certain amplitude and random factor

- the UP/DOWN ARROW KEYS
move all selected vertices in the vertical direction. the avarage height of the vertices influences
the amplitude of the random function in a certain way (the higher, the stronger)

- the LEFT/RIGHT ARROW KEYS
modify the vertical offset between all selected vertices (from nearly flat to extreme)

Last but not least, BACKSPACE flattens the selection again at the level of the lowest vertex in the actual selection.

(more 'flatten' - options >>selector>>mesh edit)

You may like to switch on the automatic adaptions to terrain in the general parameters-menu.

Then trees and lights then react automatically and in realtime to your terrain changes (the speed then depends on the amount of adaptive elements in your project).
