Water from map
« on: February 27, 2016, 03:57:36 PM »
This small helper creates a river from a group containing a map downloaded by sketchup from google.

- draw the outline of the water area (closed loop)
- drape it onto the map-group
- open the group and select the water area
- use the tool for this area

What happens:

- the tool wil save the map including topography into a separate group on a separate layer
- it will keep the topography of the bank
- it calculates the lowest point of the contour on the map (bank)
- it will create a water surface below (user defined)
- vertical banks will be created along the outline
- water bottom will be created at a defined offset

All elements will have an unique material (for a quick transfer to your vis program)

The new geometry is created at the model level, not inside the group.

This helper can save time, if you want to create water areas quickly from an imported map.
